Northport Police Report: Village Tree Flood Light, Chicken Missing

Arrests and incidents around Northport Dec. 2-12.

The following information was supplied by the Northport Village Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

  • Joseph Bongiorn, 21, of Northport was issued a summons in lieu of arrest on Dec. 5 for possession of marijuana.
  • The temporary flood light used to light up the in went missing sometime between Dec. 11 and the early morning of Dec. 12. Police have no witnesses or suspects at this time.
  • An unknown person reportedly stole $250 in cash, 30 tramadol pills, and 10 thyroid medicine pills from a home on Waterside Avenue on Dec. 5.
  • A woman fell through the ceiling of her home on Dec. 10 while bringing Christmas ornaments down from the attic. took her to the hospital for injuries to her right side.
  • A Scudder Avenue resident reported seeing a masked man looking into the basement through a window where he was standing on Dec. 9. The masked man then allegedly ran away and got into a black convertible heading west bound down Scudder.
  • A reportedly "hostile" 2007 Subaru driver allegedly ran over a Jay Court resident's bagged leaves while he was doing a yard cleanup on Dec. 2.
  • A dog owner was issued a summons for an unleashed dog after his or her two German Shepherds allegedly came onto a Main Street resident's property and attacked her chickens on Dec. 2. One of the chickens was reportedly missing when the police arrived.
  • A woman reported receiving a mysterious call from a disconnected Suffolk phone number on Dec. 2 and was concerned that someone might be trying to steal her identity.
  • A Church Street woman reported on Dec. 5 that someone took her engagement ring from her her home without permission on Oct. 6. She said she realized it was gone after looking for it in her jewelry box over the weekend.
  • A woman on Ocean Avenue reported on Dec. 5 that someone has been removing jewelry and other items from her home over the past year.
  • A Christmas wreath was reportedly stolen from the front door of a Bayview Avenue residence on Dec. 7.
  • Mariners Lane was temporarily closed on Dec. 8 as LIPA and the Highway Department placed barricades around a tree which had fallen and was hanging on utility wires.
  • A flagman was stationed at a work site on Woodbine Avenue Dec. 8 after police arrived to investigate motorists complaints of not being able to see westbound traffic on 25A because of trucks blocking the view.
  • A woman on Bayview Avenue reported on Dec. 8 that someone had entered her bedroom and taken a large sum of money sometime between Dec. 4 and 8.
