Northport Blotter: School Bus Crash, Youths With Mattress, DWI, Pot Possession and More

Northport0:01 p.m. for a report of loud music. Upon arrival, police found that a band at a party for real estate agency's opening was ending the music and packing up their instruments.

Police found two loose dogs on Norwood Avenue and Main Street Wednesday, Arpil 27 at 2:03 p.m., a Jack Russell terrier and a Lhasa Apso. Police caught the dogs and contacted the dog warden, who took custody of the animals.

Northport police responded to a call from the driver of a Huntington Area Rapid Transit bus at Main Street and Bayview Avenue Wednesday, April 27 at 4:08 p.m. The sdriver reported that a 48-year-old passenger, a resident of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, was intoxicated and unruly. Kenneth McKay was transported by police to the VAMC and placed in the custody of VA police.

Police received a report of a motor vehicle accident Wednesday April 27 at 3:12 p.m. The accident included a Northport school bus with several students on board. The driver of a 2004 Honda Element allegedly pulled out of Franklin Street and collided with the bus on Reservoir Avenue.

Northport police assisted a New York State parole officer Tuesday, Arpil 26 at 4:58 p.m. with the arrest of Jaon Carbonaro, 26, of East Northport, at Northport Laundromat for a parle violation.

Police received a report Monday, April 25 at 2:08 p.m. that was unlocked and unattended. Police checked the interior and all appeared to be find. They contacted the business owner who responded and said he would respond and correct the condition. Police stayed on the scened until the owner arrived.

A Northport resident called police to report finding two guns — a .22 caliber, back Walther P22 and a.32 black Keltec P32 — Monday, April 25 that allegedly belong to William Merschof, 48, of Lake Ronkonkoma,currently incarcerated in Riverhead on charges that he held two Northport people hostage on April 12. The guns were made safe and empty and were taken to police headquarters.

Police received an anonymous call Monday, April 25 at 2:51 a.m. of an unknown person ringing the doorbell of a Bluff Point home and leaving. Police canvassed the area but were unable to find the person.

Thomas Sullivan III, 44, of Jay Court, Northport, was arrested Monday, April 25 at 12:06 a.m. for DWI after police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Laurel Avenue where the driver had left the scene on foot after his 1993 Mercury Marquis collided with a legally parked and unattended 2008 Honda, pushing that car into a utility pole, breaking it. Sullivan was located in front of 115 Laurel Avenue walking northbound. Investigation found him to appear intoxicated. He was transported to headquarters where he submitted to an intoxilyzer and produced a blood alcohol content of .13. He was also in possession of a prescription pill bottle in his name containing 38 Zolpidem tablets in a bottle issued with 30. The defendant also had a single .5 mg tablet of a Alprazolam, similar to Xanax. Sullivan was arraigned by Judge Paul Senzer and bail was set at $3,000. He was released on $1,000 cash bail at 8:50 p.m.

Police received a report Sunday, April 24 of at 7:12 p.m. of an intoxicated female at Robke's Country Inn. Police responded and found a 24-year-old Brentwood woman vomiting next to a car. Her boyfriend was with her. She said she didn't need any medical attention at that time and was waiting for a ride home.

Police received a call Saturday, April 23 at 11:40 p.m. of barking dogs in the back of a truck parked in front of 50 Main Street. Police located the truck and the dogs but did not observe them barking.

Police received a report Saturday, April 23 at 1:05 p.m. of a possibly intoxicated man directing traffic at Nautilus and Ocean avenues. Police found the man who said he was in need of a ride to Crab Meadow. taxi was contacted and responded.

Police received a request for assistance from Suffolk County Police Department officers Friday, April 22 at 11:19 p.m. after they received a report of three male subjects running from the Dairy Barn on Fort Salonga Road in Northport. Upon arrival, it was determined that the business was locked up for the evening and no one was in need of police assistance.

A 21-year-old Scudder Avenue man received a call from Tudor Jewelers Friday, April 22 at 8:25 p.m. informing him that someone who said his name was 'Steve Dugan' brought a Northport High School class ring into the store to try to sell it. However, the name inside the ring was 'Kyle White.' White told police that the only person who was in his house today was Adam Landry, 20, also of Scudder Avenue. White had left him alone in his room when he went in to the bathroom. Kyle's mom Barbara White talked to Adam who admitted to taking the ring and pawning it at Gold Coat Jewelers in East Northport for $384. Landry surrendered himself to Northport police Saturday, April 23, and was released on $50 station house bail. He was due to return to court April 25. Wednesday, the Suffolk County Police Department recovered the the 2007 class ring from Gold Coast and brought it in to Northport Police Department headquarters. However, the stone was missing.

A 62-year-old Bayview Avenue woman reported to police Friday, April 22 at 4:50 p.m. that a yellow L.L. Bean kayak was removed from her backyard seawall. No witnesses or suspects were fun. Value of the property is estimated to be $800.

A Goldenrod Avenue woman called police Friday, April 22 at 9:31 p.m. to report that a group of youths had thrown rocks at a car and the driver was chasing the kids. Police responded and found an 18-year-old Dickinson Avenue, East Northport man who said his car was not hit by rocks but by water balloons. Police canvassed the area for the youths but were unable to locate them.

Jaquelyn Marinovich, a 21-year-old Huntington Station woman, was pulled over for speeding Wednesday, April 20 at 7:23 p.m. on Waterside Avenue at Norwood Avenue. When police pulled her over, they noticed the strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. When asked about the odor, Marinovich proceed a glass pipe with burned marijuana residue, a small marijuana cigarette and a clear plastic bag which contained a small amount of green leaf like material which, when field tested, was found to contain THC, the main ingredient in marijuana. when asked to whom it belonged, all occupants of the car —Marinovich, Mary Waldron, 20, of East Northport, and Julia Jindra-Cotilla, 26, of East Northport —agreed that they owned it collectively. Each subject was issued an appearance ticket in lieu of arrest. They are due in Northport Village court May 23.

Police responded to Northport Village Park Sunday, April 17 at 7:27 p.m. for a report of youths pushing a box spring around the village. Police spoke to the youths who agreed to return the boxspring to the dumpster from which they removed it.

Police received a call Sunday, April 17 at 2:55 a.m. of an occupied car on James Street in Northport with people inside yelling at each other. Police were unable to locate the car.

A caller to police Sunday, April 17 at 2:30 p.m. reported youths on go-karts in and out of traffic on Seaview Terrace near Reservoir Place.

Police were called to School Street in Northport Village Saturday, April 16 just after midnight for a report of loud music. The music was lowed prior to the arrival of police.

Police received a report of a possible intoxicated driver on eastern Main Street Friday, April 15 at 6:30 p.m. The alleged intoxicated driver was operating a silver BMW with  one license plate. The vehicle was gone upon police arrival.
