Local Bank Robber May Have Also Struck Upstate

Police are seeking a man who allegedly robbed a local bank. Now police from Orange County say he may have robbed a bank there, too.

Police in Orange County's Town of Newburgh say they may be seeking the same man being sought by Suffolk police for an East Northport bank robbery.

A man who strongly resembles the gray-haired, heavyset man seen in surveillance camera photos taken during a robbery at the People's United Bank in East Northport June 30 robbed the Orange County Trust Co. Bank Wednesday, July 6.

Aside from a similar physical appearance, the robber in both cases wore a dark ball cap and threatened tellers with a black handgun. He also carried a backpack to tote stolen cash.

Police described the man as between 55-65 years old and between 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall.
