A Sunday afternoon Northport car accident was fatal, Suffolk police say.
Anthony Padovano, 44, of Dix Hills was driving his 2006 Ford Escape south on Larkfield Road at 2:49 p.m. when for an unknown reason, he crossed the double yellow line onto oncoming traffic near Alice Lane in East Northport.
Padovano’s vehicle collided against a 2005 BMW that was traveling north on Larkfield Road.
Padovano, 44, of Buckingham Drive, was transported to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the BMW, Sharon McCune, 46, of Pear Road, Dix Hills, and her passenger Edith McCune, 67, were both transported to Huntington Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
