Firefighters Battle East Northport Christmas Morning Blaze

Volunteers respond to early-morning fire.

The responded to a blazing house fire early Saturday, Christmas Day morning on 6th Avenue. 

The occupants safely escaped the fire in the three-story home.  Forty-two East Northport firefighters responded to the 5:18 a.m. alarm with five pieces of apparatus, led by Assistant Chiefs Mike Tarantino and Joe Ervin. 

Mutual aid was requested at the scene for two additional engines from the Commack and Greenlawn fire departments, and an ambulance from the Centerport fire department. 

The and Kings Park fire departments provided standby fire and ambulance coverage for East Northport during the alarm.  Firefighters brought the fire under control within an hour, and were on the scene for over two hours. 

The fire is under investigation by the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad and Town of Huntington Fire Marshal.
