Elderly E. Northport Woman Critically Injured in Car Crash

A two-vehicle accident on Rt. 110 in Melville Tuesday critically injured two, including an 89-year-old Huntington man and a 77-year old East Northport woman.

Police say Thomas Emberton of Huntington was driving a 1999 Toyota northbound when his vehicle collided with a 2007 Nissan at 8:40 a.m. near the intersection of Pinelawn Road. Joan Goldstein, the driver of the Nissan, was driving southbound on Route 110 and attempting to make a left turn on to Pinelawn Road, according to police.

Emberton, of 6 Tracy Dr., was transported by Melville Rescue to Plainview Hospital. Goldstein, of 14 Olympia Pl. in East Northport, was transported by Melville Rescue Huntington Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing, according to police. Those with information regarding the crash are encouraged to call police at 631-854-8252.
