Crimes Nearby: Staged Bank Robbery; Property Damage

A report on crimes in the towns surrounding Northport.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau and Suffolk County Police Departments. Where an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Woodbury

A teller and an accomplice conspired to rob the Roslyn Savings Bank in Woodbury Monday afternoon, according to Nassau Robbery Squad detectives.

, allegedly staged the robbery and were later caught with the stolen cash.

At 3:42 p.m. on Monday, Carlson entered Roslyn Savings Bank and handed a demand note to Bolivar, a teller at the bank. Bolivar gave Carlson an undisclosed amount of cash. The robbery was reported to police, who, after an investigation, found Bolivar and Carlson had conspired to stage the robbery.

Bolivar and Carlson were arrested without incident and the stolen money was recovered. Both are being charged with 3rd degree grand larceny and 5th degree conspiracy and will be arraigned on Tuesday.

Huntington

Throughout the month of October, vandals have damaged a number of area parks causing police to step up their search for the perpetrators.

A large rock was used to damage property in the men’s bathroom at Heckscher Park on Oct. 14. One day later, similar damage was done to the men’s bathroom at Mill Dam Park in Halesite. Then, on the evening of Oct. 24, the men’s and women’s bathrooms at Wolf Hill Park were found to be damaged and graffiti was found in the platground area. On Oct. 29 four sinks and toilets in the women’s restroom in Heckscher Park.

Kings Park

Fences have been damaged by vandals at four Kings Park area homes in the past two weeks.

According to police, homes on Cosmo Place, 9th Avenue, Fireplace Drive and Bruce Lane have had damage done to the fencing on the property. Slats on PVC fences have been reported to be kicked in and damaged, with most of the instances occurring between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m.

According to police, vandals damaged fences to four areas home in October.

Commack

Three people were on Nov. 4 and charged with selling alcohol to a minor: Brian Farrell, 21, of Commack; Matthew Burger, 20, of Hauppauge; and Mary Marvin, 36, of Kings Park.

Plainview

Nassau police detectives continue to probe a in the northeastern portion of Nassau County, including new burglaries during the first week of November.

A string of burglaries that began in October have been reported in recent weeks in Plainview, Hicksville, and Syosset.
