Crimes Nearby: Drive-by Shooting; Criminal Weapons Possession

A man is shot in the legs during a drive-by shooting in Huntington, a sex offender skips registration in Commack, a woman cashes a big, bad check in St. James, and more crimes in the towns around Northport.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. Where an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Huntington

A Huntington Station man was shot in the legs Saturday night while walking on Lowndes Avenue.

Police said a car pulled up and two men fired eight rounds at Rahmel Caleb and a friend near Church Street about 9 p.m.  He was taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating.

Leonard Cagno from West Hempstead was arrested in Huntington for  second-degree criminal contempt, disobeying a court order.

Scott Stokkers from Huntington was arrested in Huntington Station for DWI.

Denise Fufidio from Smithtown was arrested in Huntington Station for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Diamond Samuels from Greenlawn was arrested in Huntington Station for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Giovanni Strangio from Huntington Station was arrested in Huntington Station for petit larceny.

Commack

Richard Russillo, 67, of Commack, was arrested Sept. 30 in Commack and charged with a sex offender registry violation. Russillo, a sex offender, failed to notify the special victims unit of his address change.

Smithtown

Christal Nair, 30, of Northport was arrested Sept. 26 in Smithtown and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny. Reports indicate Nair was arrested for the alleged theft of items from Stop and Shop on West Main Street at approximately 8:30 p.m.   

Susanna Dallis, 28, of Kings Park was arrested Sept. 26 in Smithtown and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny. Reports indicate Dallis was arrested for the alleged theft of items from Stop and Shop on West Main Street at approximately 8:30 p.m. 

Three Village

New York State police arrested Frances V. Carr of Stony Brook last week on charges of third-degree grand larceny after she allegedly defrauded People's United Bank.

Police said Carr, 57, opened an account in her name in June with $100 at the bank's branch in St. James and deposited a Capital One check for $6,000 that had no funds available on it. According to the report, Carr then went to the People's United Bank branch in Setauket and withdrew $5,800 from the account.

Police said Carr refused to return the money when the check was returned due to insufficient funds, and she was arrested. She was arraigned Monday at First District Court.

According to the police report, Carr said she used the money for home repairs and for a wedding gift for her daughter.

Babylon Village

A traffic infraction for following a vehicle too closely on the Southern State Parkway led to the arrest of a West Babylon man who is charged with possession of an illegal substance.

Wilkens Adonis, a passenger in a 2008 Chevrolet driven by Ryan Cook, was arrested and charged for unlawfully having oxycodone, a controlled substance, according to police.

Troopers pulled Cook off the westbound lane near Exit 33 after observing he was following a car too closely at 4:45 p.m. Friday evening.

Police say Cook unlawfully possessed an item commonly referred to as metal knuckles.

Both men were arrested and taken to State Police barracks in Farmingdale. Upon further investigation police say they learned Adonis has an outstanding warrant from New York City.

Cook was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and issued an appearance ticket for Suffolk County First District Court.
