Babylon Village

A West Babylon man is under arrest and charged with , according to Suffolk Police.

Patrick Steiner, 42, is facing five felony counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child and five felony counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, states a police report.

Police said the arrest made last week was the result of an undercover investigation of individuals who were trading child pornography online. Steiner has served as a sergeant within the New York Police Department auxiliary unit, according to a police press statement.

Half Hollow Hills

Police say a man handed a teller a note indicating he had a gun during a Saturday afternoon.

The robbery occurred around 12:30 p.m. at the bank located at 709 Old Country Road. The note demanded cash and the teller complied, giving the man an unspecified amount of money, police said. 

The man was last seen fleeing the bank's parking lot on foot, police said.

An incident of aggravated harassment via Facebook messages was reported on Aug. 31 at Hemingway Drive in Melville.

An incident of harassment in which a violent girlfriend allegedly threw items at her boyfriend was reported on Sept. 1 at Rainer Street in Melville.

Huntington 

Dario Cortes from Huntington was arrested in Huntington for 2nd degree harassment and 2nd degree unlawful surveillance.

Commack

Multiple pieces of jewelry were stolen from a Commack home on Aug. 30, police said. According to Suffolk County police, the thief entered a residence located on Walter Court by lifting the screen to the rear bedroom window.

Once inside, assorted jewelry, including a necklace, watch and earrings, were stolen.

The incident occurred around noon. No injuries were reported.

Once inside, one suspect displayed a handgun and forcibly demanded money from the cashier.

After the cashier complied, the suspects fled through the store's front door with an unspecified amount of cash.

Police describe both suspects to be black males who were wearing hoodies and latex gloves at the time of the robbery.
