Update: Three Hospitalized After Sunday Crash

Injuries reported after truck and sedan collide on 2nd Street.

Update: Monday, 12:57 p.m.

Two men and a woman were hospitalized after a pickup truck and a sedan crashed in East Northport on Sunday evening, according to details obtained by The Times of Northport.

The accident occurred at 6:10 p.m. on 2nd Street and 3rd Avenue. Over 40 firefighters and rescue personnel from East Northport Fire Department, under the command of First Assistant Chief Joesph Ervin, arrived on the scene to free the occupants.

Firefighters cut the door off the Hyundai Elantra to free the driver and cut the windshield out of the Toyota Tacoma pickup, which had overturned, to free the passenger.

A Suffolk Police Department helicopter was initially alerted to assist with the rescue, but called off when it was determined that the injuries were non life-threatening. The three injured were transported to Huntington Hospital via East Northport Rescue ambulance. A Greenlawn Rescue ambulance was called in on standby.

Original Story

A car overturned on 2nd Street at 3rd Avenue in East Northport on Sunday night sending the occupant or occupants to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said Suffolk County Police.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:12 p.m. A helicopter was called in to evacuate the injured to the hospital, then cancelled after it was determined that the injuries were not life-threatening. 

It is unknown how many cars were involved in the accident or how many people involved were injured at this time.

Responders from the East Northport Fire Department rescued passengers at a crash on Third Avenue and Second Street in East Northport on Sunday at about 6:10 pm.
