3 Seriously Injured in Hit and Run Crash

Three people were seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Melville early Friday, authorities said. 

Suffolk police said a tractor trailer was traveling west on the Long Island Expressway North Service Road when the truck struck a 2002 black Saturn, driven by Andrew Shikora. Shikora was driving north on Walt Whitman Road at about 2:25 a.m. The tractor trailer, with possible front end damage, fled the scene.

Shikora, 24, of East Meadow, Julia Moore, 21, and another female passenger, both of Florida, were transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where they are being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
