The Little Shelter on Warner Road, East Northport

I'm writing to express my total discontent for the Little Shelter.  I recently went on line to look to adopt two dogs for my husband and myself.  I filled out an application on line.  I didn't get a response from the shelter.  We arrived at the Shelter one Saturday morning to be greeted by two employees eating their lunch on the steps at the front door.  They seemed annoyed they had to move over a little to allow us to enter.  I was greeted nicely, "how can I help you?"...I said, we were looking into adopting....before I could finish my sentence, the boy behind the counter shoved a clipboard in my hand and said "fill this out"...I responded, "I filled one out on line and...."  The boy said to me rudely, "well, you're here now, fill this one out"....I told my husband to go and look for the two dogs we were interested in...Abruptly, the boy said, "No, fill out the form first"...I said "well, we were interested in adopting the two dogs that were sisters which you have posted on line.  He said they weren't sisters and they don't do double adoptions.  I explained that he must have misunderstood what I said, I said that I wanted to adopt the two sisters because I didn't want to break up the family.  He rudely said again, they aren't sisters and we don't do double adoptions.  Still baffled, I said to the boy, "you advertise them as sisters and we want to adopt two animals, so they keep each other company.  We were rudely told again they don't do double adoptions and they gave no explanation.    My advice to the Little Shelter is, train your associates, volunteers or not, the general public is there to help them as well, they need training on how to be more customer friendly and the many people I have spoken to about this establishment ALL have told me they have had similar issues with this establishment.  My donation check for $500 that I had in my pocket, was quickly ripped up.
