Do you know what distinguishe Veterans Day from Memorial Day?
Memorial Day is specifically set aside for those killed in battle or who died of wounds suffered in war. Veterans Day, dating to the armistice that ended World War I, is meant to honor all U.S. veterans, living or dead.
Do you find some people don't know the distinction? Why do you suppose that is? Are schools and parents teaching young people enough about civics, or has it been lost on younger generations?
