Joseph York, Honorary Chief of East Northport Fire Department, Dies

Joseph York, a long-time member of the East Northport Fire Department, where he was an honorary chief, has died.

York served with the East Northport Fire Department for 59 years and was captain of the fire police as well as a Suffolk County deputy fire coordinator for fire police.

A retired detective lieutenant with the Suffolk County Police Department, York “was very well known and respected for his dedication and professionalism, and a true gentleman to all that knew him,” according to the East Northport Fire Department

He will be reposing at Brueggemann Funeral Home, 522 Larkfield Road in East Northport; phone (631) 368-1235. Remaining viewing hours are Wednesday, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Firematic services are scheduled for Wednesday at 8 p.m. Class “A” Uniform Funeral Service will be at the St. Paul’s Church, Thursday at 11 a.m.
