George Miller Passes Away After Long Battle with Illness

Northport resident was a Marine Corps veteran remembered by his loved ones as "gentle, noble, and witty."

Northport resident George K. Miller passed away on July 13 after a long battle with illness, as reported in Newsday.

Miller was the beloved husband of Virginia (Gay), loving father of Kathy, Susan, Michael and Christopher and step-father of Ben, Gail, David, Shawn and Jason. George is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, his sister Janet Gustafson and his aunt Gracie.

A proud United States Marine Corps Veteran, Miller was a valiant man who stoically confronted his long illness with nary a complaint. He was a gentle, noble and witty man who touched all who met him. The legacy of his courageous spirit will always be with us. He was one tough Marine!

A memorial service will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn.
