Bruce A. Cohen, 74, of Myrtle Beach, SC, (formerly of Northport, NY and Warwick, NY) died Friday, September 7, 2012 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in South Carolina of complications following heart surgery. Born January 31, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Herbert and Flora Bergman Cohen and a long time employee of IBM. He was a valued volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Myrtle Beach, SC and the Food Pantry in Northport, NY. He prided himself on starting a branch of pet foods at the Food Pantry. "Even the pets get hungry and deserve to eat", he would claim. He was always a person who went above and beyond what was asked of him.
Mr. Cohen is survived by his 5 children, James Cohen and Emily Cohen, of Northport, NY; Marie McIntyre (Kirk) of Clayville, NY, Constance Hegner (Finn) of Warwick, NY, and Nancy McDonald (Bob) of Niantic, CT; 7 grandchildren, Ian, Lindsay, Delaney, Nils, Lance, Jack and Myles. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Cohen (Patricia), and his niece and nephew, Kari and Scott, as well as several cousins. He is also survived by two former wives Veronica Hart and Jennifer Cohen. In addition to his family, Bruce is survived by his companion, Patricia Spina.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 29th at 10am at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Northport on Main Street.
