7/8 Red Tigers 20 vs. East Islip 6

Too often we talk about the scoring during the game but fail to mention the work of the boys on the offensive line. Well today's game had great runs by Jack Sandrib, Michael Meyer, and Jacob Lubeck but it had a lot to do with the blocking of Peter Ferrara, Tommy Linane, Mason Miller, and the great job of snapping the ball by Luke Lamendola. We have to mention Aidan Campbell's downfield block which was a big part of establishing an early lead for the Tigers, and tough running by Aidan Murdock that kept the Tiger's momentum going in to the 2nd half. On the defensive side of the ball Jason Mohlmann, Michael Meyer, and Jack Tamborski were making hard hitting tackles all game. Season Record 3-0 Next Game October 6 @ Deer Park

9 Black Tigers 6 vs. West Islip 13

The Tigers lost a tough, hard-fought game against West Islip last Sunday 13-6. Coming into the game, West Islip was undefeated and had scored 47 points in their first two games. The Tigers proved they were up to the challenge. Vinnie Bruno was dominant running the ball inside all day, and Rafe Carner broke a sweep up the right sideline for a 60 yard gain, setting up a touchdown for Bruno. However, West Islip proved to be slightly better on the day with some excellent running of their own and several completed passes including one for a 25 yard touchdown. Still, the Tigers got the ball back on their own 35 yard line with four minutes to play, down 6 points and with all three timeouts, a testament to the good over all job done by the defense throughout the game. Unfortunately, as they did for the majority of the game, West Islip's defense bent but would not break and the Tigers fell just short. The entire team should be commended for rising to the challenge and giving an excellent West Islip team all they could handle. Season Record 1-2.  Next Game September 29 home vs. Pat Med **************************************

9 Red Tigers 0 vs. Sayville 14

Northport had a disappointing loss to Sayville on Saturday night. Sayville QB had some quality passes resulting in the first two touchdowns of the game. Over and over the tigers attempted to move the ball downfield but the overly aggressive Sayville defense kept taking them down. The teams traded possessions throughout most of the game. Some good runs and tackles by Tyler Florio, good blocking and tackling by Thomas McDonagh and solid tackling by Connor Higgins. Unfortunately, is just wasn’t enough to get Northport on the scoreboard. Hoping for a better turnout next week at home. Season Record 1-2.  Next game  September 30 home vs. Amityville

Hutton and Rizzo added the extra points on each other's TD to put Northport up 21-0 at the half. The second half was all about Northport's defense and the powerful running of Andrew Tittman. Defensive lineman Tobin Centamore was a tackling machine all game. His efforts, as well as the contributions of Anthony Bettano, Max Brustmeyer, John Chapman, Jimmy Atkinson, Ethan Jolly and William Tyska, helped provide the shutout. The Tigers beat Half Hollow Hills Sunday in a hard fought battle with an ultimate team effort. Northport’s defense led by Middle Linebacker Shane “The Train” Finkelstein, Outside Linebacker’s Larry Citrola, Max Romano and Joseph Sierra found themselves in a tough fight to open up the game. After a defensive battle in the first quarter, Northport’s offense came alive in the second quarter behind the slash and dash running of Tail Back Ryan Parker. On Northport’s second offensive series of the game, the Tigers relied on Parker to take over the game and move the Tigers offense down the field. The results, Northport put up the first score of the day. Parker capped off his great running with a 5 yard run into the end zone. The punishing inside running of Full Back’s Shane “The Train” Finkelstein and Max Romano helped keep the Hills Defense off balance all day as Northport played a ball control offense going inside and outside on the Hills defense. The Northport defensive effort was the best of the year with great individual efforts from Nose Guard’s John McMorrow and Ted “Ice Man” Kavanagh interior defensive lineman Francis Braun, William Cuttita, Nicholas Serra, Paul Peragallo, Dillon Brown, Cornerback Michael Bokina and Safety Sean D'Amaro. After halftime Northport took the ball and drove down the field with the offensive drive ending in the game winning score. The Northport offense dominated the whole third quarter in a ball controlled drive steadily marching down the field. When the team counted on them the most in this hard fought battle the offensive line of Tackles Michael Morreale and Quinlan Finnegan, Center Ted “Ice Man” Kavanagh and Guards Francis Braun and James Alden came up big. Downfield blocking of Wide receivers Stephen Wyhowanec, Paul Peragallo and Dillon Brown helped Northport keep moving the ball down the field eating up the third quarter and keeping the Hills offense on the sideline. The drive ended in amazing fashion when on fourth down from the Hills twenty five yard line Quarterback Anthony Vozza broke away from the Hills pass rush rolled out to his right and hit Tight End “Touchdown” Tommy Sandrib who caught the ball on the Hills ten yard line and broke through the Hills defense on his way to the end zone for the game winning score. This was Sandribs third touchdown reception of the year. With four minutes left in the game Hills had one more offensive drive and the Northport defense stepped up to the challenge. On the most critical defensive stand of the day the Northport team put on a great defensive effort with standout individuals plays by Outside Linebacker Larry Citrola, Defensive Tackle Quinlan Finnegan, Defensive End Tommy Sandrib along with help from Linebacker’s Shane “The Train” Finkelstein and Max Romano Northport’s defense stuffed the Hills offensive in their last attempt to find the end zone. Northport ended the game in dominating fashion when Defensive End Anthony Vozza and Defensive Tackle Michael Morreale sacked the Hills Quarterback to seal the win for the Tigers. For the third week in a row the Tigers have demonstrated how their hard work and great effort is proving success on the football field. The coaches would like to thank the players for the commitment to hard work and dedication they are showing each week. Once again, this week was a successful overall TEAM performance with significant contributions from every member of the TEAM. We look forward to continue to build on our success and are excited to meet the upcoming challenge next week. Season Record: 3-0 September 30 vs. Commack

11 Black Tigers 12 vs. Bayshore 18

Northport’s 11 year old BLACK team was pitted in a classic gridiron battle vs. the Bay Shore Marauders. The Marauders got on the score board early in the 2nd quarter. Northport’s ILB Sal Miccio and DE Justin Schmeiser made a great play and tackle to stop the extra point holding the score to 6-0. Northport’s offense then went on a 13 play 65 yard ground and pound drive. The drive saw great blocking from the offensive line and all the Northport Tigers running backs touching the ball. On 3rd & goal from the 6, RB Justin Gerdvil following textbook blocks from C Ronan Cooney, LG Tyler Pederson, LT Ethan Bluver and lead blocker Sal Miccio to run 6 tough yards to tie the score. Bay Shores defense stopped the extra point to keep the score Northport 8 Bay Shore 6 at half time. The Marauders would score on the opening drive of the second half to take back the lead. ILB Justin Gerdvil and ILB Sal Miccio got penetration denying the Marauders on the XP to keep the score Bay Shore 12 Northport 6. It would be up to the Tigers offense to answer and they did just that. Northport led by QB Ben Sandt and offensive line C Ronan Cooney, G Tyler Pederson, G Mike Chapman, TE Justin Schmeiser, TE Nick Ford, T Chris Lembo, TE Sean Nelson would drive the ball to Marauders 2 yard line. The key play of the drive was a 54 yd. run by RB Jake Bonomi to the Bay Shore 6 yard line. 2 plays later QB Ben Sandt would find the end zone on a 2 yd. bull run to tie the score at 12-12. Late in the 4th quarter Northport’s defense would to get a turnover or force a punt to have a chance. Big hits and tackles were made by DE Jeremy Gerdvil, DT Nick Tabert, SS AJ Ranieri, FS Chris Gessner, DT Ethan Bluver, DT Ben Sandt, OLB Ryan Smith, and OLB Jake Bonomi to force the Marauders to punt. As Bay Shore lined up for the punt Northport was looking for the big play. Northport’s D line got great pressure and forced the punter to run and that’s where the big play was made, unfortunately after breaking a few would be tacklers and then ran 65 yd. for a TD to give Bay Shore back the lead 18-12. OLB Jake Bonomi would break up the pass on the extra point to deny the extra point try. Northport offense would try to answer one more time but time expired for a disappointing end to a hard fought battle. Season Record 2-1 September 30 Home vs. Commack
