Farm Life: It's Time to Dance!

Only two more weeks to go until the Friends of the Farm's 16th Annual Barn Dance Fundraiser- Saturday, March 3rd at 7pm, ST Philip Neri Parish Center. We hope to see you there!

It’s that time of the year when friends will gather to enjoy an evening of fun, dancing, great food, raffles and door prizes at the annual Barn Dance fundraiser at Philip Neri on March 3, while helping the residents of the Lewis Oliver Dairy Farm stay safe, happy and healthy.

Residents at the farm include Annabelle the cow; several goats including Sophie, Adeleide, Big, Blaze, Heidi, Oreo and Swan; resident sheep Sheila, Stewie and friends; alpacas Ezra and Onyx; Tiny, (or as many call him ‘Piggy’);  together with lots of geese, chickens, bunnies, cats, peacocks and ducks. There are a lot of hungry mouths to feed and fundraisers such as this help do just that as well as provide veterinarian care and other essentials.

Throughout its one hundred year plus history, the Lewis Oliver Farm has been a focal point of the Northport community. Local tradition abounds at the farm and thanks to our volunteers and the ongoing support we receive from the community, residents from near and far can still enjoy visiting the animals and sharing in this precious piece of Long Island's history.

Now, for the sixteenth year, the Friends of the Farm Barn Dance will highlight some of the best country sounds and foot stompin’ music around.  The evenings musical talent includes Jeff Mucciolo and the Moonshine Band accompanied by special guest singer (and morning volunteer feeder) Valerie Sauer as well as John Sherman and the Ghostriders. In between performances, Master of Ceremonies, Peter Engelmann, will call out for door prize winners and raffle prize information.

This year’s menu includes delicacies from local restaurants including Maroni’s of Northport, Aunt Chilada’s, Jimmy’s Pizza, Three Amigo’s and Copenhagen Bakery. Beer, wine, coffee and dessert are included in the ticket price of $50.00 each ($55.00 at the door). To further enjoy your beverage of choice, a complimentary etched wine glass or beer mug will be distributed to use that evening and bring home as a keepsake of the dance. To add to your collection, additional glasses will be available for purchase.

This is always our biggest fundraising event of the year. Friends of the Farm is a 501c-3, not-for-profit volunteer group in which 100% of donations and proceeds go towards the feeding and care of the animals and preserving the farm. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Dust off your boots, reshape that cowboy hat, call some friends and reserve a table at the dance.

Come graze with us, do some hoof stompin’ and have some fun!

For tickets or additional information, call Patt at 757-8065 or Lynn at 757-9626. **Raffle prizes and cash donations gratefully accepted.
