Huntington Kiwanis thank community for Field of Honor support

This past fall, the Kiwanis Club of Huntington held its fourth annual Field of Honor event in tribute to our servicemen and women past and present.

A project of Kiwanis International and by extension the Kiwanis Club of Huntington, the Field of Honor program allows community members to purchase an American flag to be placed on the front lawn of Huntington Town Hall in dedication to a service member. Proceeds from flag sales are used to send children of deployed service members to Kiwanis Camp in upstate New York for one week.

Barbara Macchiaroli, secretary of the Huntington Kiwanis commented on the success of the 2013 Flag of Honor program:  “This year we had a tremendously successful Field of Honor program. We would like to thank those in the community who supported our efforts, and thank all of our brave service men and women and their families and loved ones for their tremendous sacrifice.”

One final note: there are purchased flags at Town Hall that are ready to be picked up at their purchaser’s earliest convenience.
