Carrie-Anne Gonzalez, who co-owns Carrie Weston Studios in East Northport has taken her work international.
The photographer was recently accepted into the prestigious art show, “Donna,” in the city of Gubbio, Italy. Her work is on display at the Hall of the Captains of the Palazzo dei Consoli in Via Baldassini.
The exhibition was put together by the Terracomunica Association, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting social and cultural areas of photography.
Gonzalez’s photos are now being shown to the international community in order to raise awareness of domestic violence and to help stop violence against women. Out of hundreds of entries, approximately 20 images were accepted for the exhibition to represent emerging photographers from New York.
“I am honored and humbled to have my work displayed at this exhibition,” said Gonzalez. “I have traveled to dozens of countries and have always enjoyed photographing women—capturing their inner beauty, their struggles, their culture…I am thrilled to have my work displayed in such an important and meaningful exhibition in Italy.”
The exhibition was celebrated on Nov. 25, 2013, International Day Against Violence Against Women and will be on display until March 2014.
