Volunteers Needed for Beach Cleanup

Huntington's 9th Annual Clean Beaches Day is Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., and volunteers are welcome.

Volunteers can register for a cleanup at Centerport Beach, Crab Meadow Beach or Gold Star Battalion Beach. They can also register to be part of the “Clean Beaches Bus Tour” which takes them to clean Hobart Beach, Asharoken Beach and Scudder Beach.

They will be joining local leaders who are organizing the event, including Huntington Town Councilwoman Susan A. Berland, Village of Northport Mayor George Doll and former Village of Northport Trustee Tom Kehoe.

Volunteers are also welcome at Centerport Beach at 8:15 a.m. for breakfast prior to the cleanup and the dispatching of the bus tour 9:00 a.m. Following the cleanups, a special luncheon will be held beginning at noon at the Pavilion at Centerport Beach, at which time volunteers can relax and enjoy refreshments.

For more information on Clean Beaches Day or to register to volunteer, contact TJ Hatter in the Department of Citizen Services at(631) 351-3018 or Donna Koch, Northport Village Clerk at (631) 261-7502.
