A Howl'oween Fit for the Dogs

The third annual Paws for a Cause charity walk will take place Oct. 27.

The dogs are ready to walk the runway down Main Street, for the third annual Paws for a Cause Dog and Costume Walk Oct. 27.

The Halloween event is put on by the Visiting Nurse Serve and Hospice of Suffolk, along with Northport Chamber of Commerce, will hold the third annual Dog and Costume Walk Oct. 27 to benefit the Hospice House in East Northport.

Before the parade down to Village Park, contestants will gather for the costume contest at VNSHS on Main Street in Northport. Refreshments will be available for both pets and owners. The event organizers said that there would be face painting for the children and photos taken of the dogs entered. Hay rides and a petting zoo will be open after the walk and onsite adoptions will be available.

Other contests include an owner/dog look-a-like, funniest dog, cutest puppy, most original and children and doggie dress up. 

The walk will also benefit the hospice’s pet therapy program, which services home care and hospice patients.

Registration is Oct. 27 between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Costume contest awards will take place at 11:30 a.m. The walk, which starts at 505 Main Street, begins at noon, rain or shine.
