Huntington Indoor Winter Farmers Market

Winter Farmers Market Returns to Jack Abrams

November 15, 2013:

G&G Winter Markets returns with its Indoor Winter Market again at the Jack Abrams School, located at
155 Lowndes Ave in Huntington Station, starting on Sunday, December 8, 2013.

The Market will run every Sunday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, through April 28, 2013, and will feature local and organic produce from two Long Island Farms using season extension and hydroponic growing techniques as well as vendors with local artisanal breads, cheese, dairy products, fresh pasta, and much more.

The market will also feature new vendors this year such as organic chocolate makers, Little Jack's Sweets, fresh hummus from Eden's Fresh, Southern belles BBQ  and  cheesecakes from Two Guys Cakes. We are also excited to have many vendors from last season back, including, The Orchards of Conklin, Horman's best pickles, D & J Organic Farm from Yaphank, High River sauces and many more!

Cooking demonstrations, talks by local authors, and other presentations will also be a feature of this market.

“It is going to be a wonderful season full of new beginnings,” said Lona Graepel, Market Organizer.
“With many of the vendors sourcing ingredients from the New York region this is good news for local producers as well as the community.”

Located right off of the 110 Corridor and just minutes away from the village location of the main season Farmer’s Market (it runs from June – November), Graepel, also a Huntington resident, notes that the Jack Abrams is an ideal location to continue offering the community fresh produce, locally grown and produced products on a nearly year-round basis.

This weekly event will be located right in the gymnasium; a space that will allow the market to grow significantly and easily accommodate craft tables for children, live music by local musicians, and a place for the whole community to reconnect in a family-friendly atmosphere, while at the same time support local farmers and budding local entrepreneurs.”

A few highlights for the upcoming winter season are a visit from Santa on December 22nd, and a visit from an educator from Cornell who will provide education on nutrition on December 15 & 19th.

There will be many holiday gifts at the market, so we encourage people to shop local and support the community!

In the Winter of 2009, G&G started the first Winter Farmer’s Market on Long Island and had been hosting a Winter Market in at Sweet Hollow Hall in West Hills County Park for the first two years, but market managers Jaime Greci & Lona Graepel had always wanted a location closer to Huntington Village.
