A Night of Chinese Music and Dance

In
celebration of the Year of the Horse,
the Northport Arts Coalition and the Asian-American Cultural Circle of Unity,
in cooperation with Northport library will present “A Night of Chinese Music
and Dance”, a captivating performance by acclaimed Taiwanese instrumentalist
Judy (Shi Hua) Yeh and her group of traditional music & dance.  She will be playing various Chinese
instruments including the gugin, a seven-string  instrument in the zither family that dates back to ancient times, and the guzheng, a plucked zither with 18 or more strings and movable bridges.  Judy
garners accolades wherever she performs.
She’s a graduate of Taipei National University of the Arts, where she
majored in Guqin and later pursued her Masters degree in Ethnomusicology from
Sheffield University in the UK.  She has
performed in four continents and is an active member of the Chinese music
community here in NY, and the founder of the NY Qin School, where she served as
a music teacher.
