: Residents concerned about traffic flow and congestion on Elwood Road expressed outrage and skepticism at a presentation Thursday night given by representatives from the Engel Burman Group, which is under contract to purchase the 37 acre Oak Tree Dairy property. Plans to turn the site into a two story, 482-unit condominium community for 55+ owners known as The Seasons at Elwood would require a zone change from R-40 to R-RM. The property currently has a variance for commercial use.

: After a marathon meeting on Wednesday, May 2 that lasted until nearly midnight, the Northport Board and the UTN reached an agreement on an MOA which will be put to a vote by union members on May 15. On May 3, Blanck said the agreement was drawn up and signed by both parties, then distributed to union members on Friday, May 4. On Tuesday, May 8 the union will meet to discuss the MOA, which Blanck says addresses the three areas which she felt were the reasons for the failure of the first MOA back in January.

: U.S. News & World Report gave a silver award to Glenn High School in their nation-wide high school rankings released earlier this week. The school ranked 114 out of 1,165 schools in New York and 870th nationwide.

: Attendance was light at Tuesday's Northport BOE Meet the Candidates Night, hosted by the PTA Council. Four candidates are vying for three open seats. Incumbents Stephen Waldeburg, Jr. and Donna McNaughton, along with local attorney David Badanes and financial planner Jim Maloney answered a number of questions from moderator Jennifer Labruna.

: A late night fishing trip turned into a harrowing wait for five men who became stranded outside Northport Harbor on Monday night.
