Week in Review: Feb. 27-March 4

This week's top stories on Northport Patch.

: No one was more surprised than Dorothy Walsh when she received an award at the annual Northport Chamber of Commerce holiday party in January for her years of dedication and service to the community. She'd been told ahead of time that Copenhagen Bakery owner and President of the Chamber Flemming Hansen was going to receive it.

: Orangetheory Fitness, a new exercise studio in East Northport, is opening its doors to customers who want to try out the exercise program before the gym officially opens.

: Back-to-back champs! That’s what you call the Glenn girls basketball team after it held off rival Harborfields, 47-45, to claim the Suffolk Class A title last Saturday at St. Joseph’s in Patchogue.

: Rich Czeczotka finally got the tour of campus he had been hoping for last Friday, albeit six weeks later than he first expected.

: The Northport District’s Five Year Capital Plan, which the Operations and Maintenance Committee reviewed and updated over a course of six meetings, lists seven projects for the 2012-13 school year totalling $1.85 million, which Assistant Superintendent for Business Kathleen Molander noted in a Feb. 21 memo "far exceeds previous years’ recommendations.”
