: Best Buy announced last week that it will close 50 stores nationwide by 2013 after disappointing fourth quarter earnings, cutting 400 jobs in corporate and support areas. The closures would make way for 100 mobile small format stand-alone stores.

: It’s been a business decision 14 years in the making, but wildly popular Northport pitstop Copenhagen Bakery is moving beyond coffee and cakes. The new-look bakery will be 1,000 square feet and include 30 seats with more outside, taking advantage of the picturesque backdrop of Northport Harbor.

: So it’s no surprise the Northport High School junior midfield has picked up where she left off. Fortunato scored a school record-tying 10 goals and added two assists Wednesday as the Tigers ran past rival Commack, 21-8, in a Suffolk Division I game.

: After two weeks of listening to Northport Board members do a line-by-line budget review, more than 20 residents took the opportunity to sound off on Monday night on the two percent and zero percent levy options which the administration had presented.

: The Northport-East Northport school administration recently heard the public's opinion on two budget scenarios-- one with a zero percent tax levy increase, and one with a two percent levy increase. The public met them with a divided front. See where our readers fall and add your vote.
