Village Forms Parking Task Force

What spots do you think should be addressed?

Northport Village and the Chamber of Commerce have formed a joint Parking Task Force to address parking issues in the village. Village Trustee and Chamber Member Henry Tobin will head the committee.

"We're going to be looking to see if there's anything we can do in the short term and then identify immediate and long term solutions," said Tobin. "One of the tasks will be to evaluate how much (parking traffic) is generated when and by what uses, how much parking is needed, and in the mean time what we can do."

The committee will be composed of various constituencies who depend upon parking in the village. "Merchants, restaurant owners, organizations such as the farmers market, American Legion, churches, the theater, people representative of special events, and, of course, residents," said Tobin.
