Video: New Scooter Donated to Disabled Vet

Vet and Northport VA volunteer who had scooter stolen will get new one courtesy of LI medical supply company.

Disabled Army veteran Tom Cammarata, 59, will receive a loaner scooter after his was stolen from his front yard early Sunday morning.

A Long Island medical supply company told Cammarata that they would deliver the scooter to his Central Islip home by Thursday morning, which will eliminate the hassle of waiting for a replacement from the Veterans Administration.

Cammarata became reliant on his scooter after injuries from a hit and run began to cause him extreme pain when walking.

He uses the scooter to run local errands and to get around the Northport VA campus five times a week when he is receiving treatments for his injuries and doing volunteer work.

The scooter has not been found. Police are searching for those responible and are offering an award for tips that lead to an arrest.
