Tell Us Where The Potholes Are in Northport

It’s roadwork season, so let’s identify the streets that need repair.

Potholes! It’s the equivalent of a curse on Long Island.

These gravelly, asphalt mini graves are the scourge of any commute, spilling coffee and jarring your teeth at every opportunity.

It may have been a mild winter, but the roads around Northport still need fixing.

Patch is on a quest to uncover the roadways and intersections with the worst potholes. So sound off in the comments section and sound the alarm. Your car – and that minivan full of kids on the way to lacrosse practice – will thank you.

Spring kicks off road repair season. We’ll take your concerns to the highway department and get timetable for repair.

And don’t forget to check our local traffic map, powered by Mapquest.

On the south side of Main Street, east of Norwood Avenue, one of the Belgium block shoulders had collapsed to the point where a motorcyclist or bicyclist will be killed if they need to move onto the shoulder. It's been this way for a long time and I'm surprised it hasn't been repaired or at least coned off.

The Northport Middle School is the worst paving that I know of in Northport and they just "patched" it last fall. It is a disgrace the asphalt they used before and for the re-patch is approx. 1/2" thick just big enough to crack apart in pieces.

Ocean avenue and reservoir ave. are in terrible shape.Especially between scudder and 25a. And what happened to the traffic light at scudder and reservoir? It's always red north and south and takes forever to change. It wasn't like that before.
