Tell Us: 26 Acts of Kindness

Sandy Hook shooting sparks pay it forward campaign by year's end.

In response to the Sandy Hook Elementary school shootings, Journalist Ann Curry originated a campaign to perform 26 acts of kindness in memory of each of the people killed.

The campaign quickly went viral after she promoted it on Twitter and elicited responses from all over the world. Curry's campaign was based on her reaction to the horror's seen when she was reporting from war-ravaged Darfur in 2007, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Many people have become highly creative in their random acts of kindness: paying the toll for a car behind them, giving gifts to Santa, leaving flower bouquets on doors, and visiting people at nursing homes.

Are you participating in 26 Acts? Is it something you normally already do? How have you made a stranger's life better recently?

Tell us in the comments.

Along with the help of many others in the pay it forward groups in central Kentucky, we have given Christmas to several families who otherwise would not have had one.

I couldn't charge an elderly woman who lives alone and was getting the runaround from the management of the condo complex she lives in. She had been having problems from water damage. We removed wallpaper and painted her kitchen Cheers

I heard about this on the 17th of December and was so impacted by this idea I started right away. - left little gold angel ornaments on cars in parking lots with a card that said it was in honor of the lives lost at Sandy Hook -I paid for the coffee of two people behind me in the starbucks line - waited in the Kroger parking lot until I saw a young mother pull in (she had two little ones with her) in an older model car and left a Kroger gift card and christmas card for her. -donated $26 to my favorite animal rescue group - left christmas cards and candy canes on cars in the Publix parking lot -gave co-workers special ornaments and cards this year asking for peace and blessings to flow their way I will continue random acts of kindness throughout the year to spread more kindness and hope in my community
