Sales Tax Exemption: What Does it Mean For You? [Poll]

The state repealed the 4 percent sales tax on clothing and other items. Will you buy more because of it?

As of Sunday, New York repealed the 4 percent state sales tax on clothing, footwear and similar items costing less than $110 each.

The program applies to items purchased in person, over the Internet, by phone or by mail. The qualifying amount for the sales tax exemption has doubled from last year on clothing and footwear sold at $55 or less, to items sold at $110 or less.

Proponents say the exemption will save taxpayers an estimated $210 million and give local retailers an economic boost.
