Larkfield Road at Ninth Avenue was temporarily closed off this morning for the raising of a flag in honor of past Fire Commissioner Edward Hehir, who died this week at 91. Hehir, a World War II veteran and retired Suffolk Police officer, entered the Department in 1948 and was commissioner from 1980 to 1994. A service was held at in Northport.
