Patch Scares Up Halloween Events for Kids

Costume contests, a haunted bomber and witches on the schedule.

Sure, Halloween doesn't arrive until Wednesday but several holiday events to entertain the kids are scheduled this weekend.

The Huntington Family Y is hosting a kids party Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. The safe Halloween event is for kids age 2-10 years. Games, crafts, activities, prizes, treats, witches' storytime corner, musical activities and a haunted studio.

Kids should wear their costumes. Y membership is not required and parents get in for free. Contact Ediec@ymcali.org or call 631-421-4242 ext. 132 for more details.

The American Airpower Museum will offer trick or treating, a scavenger hunt, costume contest, a tour of a haunted bomber and more, for kids 4-12. The "scarepower" event runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Station Sports is offering a Halloween Family Fun Day, from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, including a barbecue buffet, batting pitches, mini-golf and arcade play.

The 6th Annual Howl-ween: Corky's Canine Costume Parade Celebration and Paws for a Cause event will run Saturday from  This spectacular star-studded celebration, produced by Nightingale PR, features an exciting street sale, a luxury, classic car show in the park, live music and the most elaborate parade of canines in costumes. canines will have a chance to "Bark the Vote" as they pick their choice for president between Bark Obama and Mutt Romney. Starts at noon, on Main Street in Cold Spring Harbor.

If your kids can wait, the Town of Huntington's annual costume parade is scheduled for Wednesday, starting at 4:15 p.m.  Children of all ages (and their parents or guardians) are welcome to dress in costume and walk in the parade. Parade participants will meet in front of the Huntington Post Office on Gerard Street at 4 p.m. The parade route moves dast down Gerard Street and South down Wall Street, ending where Wall Street hits Main Street (25A.)  The Huntington Business Improvement District (BID), in cooperation with village merchants will be sponsoring its “Safe Trick-or-Treat” program. Merchants throughout the town will pass out candy from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information about the parade, call the Department of Citizen Services at 351-2877.
