Northport Family Fun Night; Elwood BOE Meeting

Hello and welcome to the Tuesday edition of "The Daily Five," a rundown of things to know or do in the community.

1. Weather: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Southwest wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

2. Northport Family Fun Night: The final night of Northport Family Fun Nights will begin at 6 p.m. along Main Street. This week is a "Dancing with the Stars" contest for children, adults, and couples where participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite celebrity. Students from Rock Underground music school will cap the night with a Michael Jackson performance. Jazz band "Nina Etcetera" and rock band "Crisis" will also perform throughout the night. Traffic will be closed off in the festival area beginning at 5 p.m. Check out photos from the first one .

3. Northport Planning Board Meeting: The Northport Planning Board will meet at at 7 p.m.

4. Elwood School Board Meeting: The Elwood BOE will meet at the at 7:30 p.m.
