March 19: Northport Board of Ed; Elwood St. Baldrick's Day

Five things to know or do in the community.

Hello and welcome to the Monday edition of "The Daily Five," a rundown of things to know or do in the community.

1. Weather: Areas of fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Calm wind becoming south between 4 and 7 mph.

2. Northport Board of Ed: The will meet at Northport High School's large cafeteria at 7:30, NOT the Brosnan (Laurel Avenue) building, to discuss the budget. Next week's meeting will also be held in the cafeteria.

3. Elwood St. Baldrick's Day: celebrates their annual St. Baldrick's Day in Elwood to help conquer kids' cancer. The event is open to the public and is in memory of Elwood students Sarah Boss & Matthew Lawrence. Come cheer on shavees and enjoy food, raffles, face painting, hair extensions, bag pipes and other family activities. 4:30 -7:30 p.m.

4. Child Discipline Workshop: Positive discipline means helping children learn self-control and problem solving. Discover new ways to correct and guide children’s behavior. Parent educator Nancy Olsen-Harbich will lead this workshop for parents and caregivers of children ages 2-12 at the at 7 p.m. FREE

5. Huntington Annual Ethics Board Meeting: Town Hall at 6 p.m.
