LIPA Powers Up East Northport

Repair crews were spotted replacing transformers along Jericho Turnpike Wednesday.

One lane of Jericho Turnpike in East Northport was shut down Wednesday afternoon while LIPA repair crews replaced a transformer.

With Hurricane Sandy now gone, crews have the big job of restoring power to the region. Three trucks worked on a broken pole on Jericho Turnpike, closing one westbound lane near Daly Road.

When will the patch update us on local school closures? Why isn't the library open? FYI: you can sit in the parking lot and use the wi-fi. Will garbage be picked up as normal? What about special pick up for all the extra yard waste? Has anyone contacted npt-enpt transportation? Which stores are open? Which pizza places ran out of food?......

Here's the deal as I see it. Lies, half truths and nonsense. #1: Tell the public 7-10 days so that when its on in 3, 4 or 5 they are heroes. #2: Their comments have not changed in 4 days. They had a narrative ("assessing", 7-10, etc) and will never change it. #3: They claimed they had 5000 people working, yet they are now backpedaling and telling us how the troops are on the way with 1900 more workers arriving "tomorrow" #4: Wooden pole breaks in half, HV transmission lines fall. Solution? New wooden pole, same gear attached. Next storm expect different result. Message? Infrastructure set up hasn't changed in 100 years. Should have NEVER had the outages we had in the first place. Therein lies the REAL story.

Why aren't they working in Elwood. Why is lipa not saying anything when con Ed and the other power companies are constant presence on tv and radio.
