Javanese Puppetry Show at Northport Library

Hello and welcome to the Wednesday edition of "The Daily Five," a rundown of things to know or do in the community.

2. Tamara and the Shadow Theater of Java: The Northport Arts Coalition, in cooperation with the Library, presents a rare theatrical experience with Tamara Fielding—Javanese shadow master, lecturer, and author.  “Wayang Kulit” (y-young-coo-lit), Indonesia’s spectacular theatre of shadows, combines the creative elements of Javanese puppet theatre, music, mythology, history, and storytelling. Rooted in an ancient belief that our ancestors’ spirits return to earth and inhabit the puppets’ shadows, the shadow master casts the puppets’ shadows on an illuminated story cloth. No registration required. at 7 p.m.

3. 'The King & I' Auditions: The will hold auditions for a November production of "The King & I" at the Brosnan Center Theater at 7:30 p.m.
