Huntington Station Resident Honored for Service to Veterans

Huntington Station resident Lorraine Boccio, recipient of the annual Veterans Advisory Board Len Totora Jr. award, was awarded with a Town Proclamation at the Northport V.A. Hospital Golf Course on July 2.

“Lorraine dedicated herself to enriching the lives of the veteran community in the Town of Huntington. Because of her continued efforts, a Veteran’s Day Appreciation Breakfast is held annually at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Huntington Station," said Councilwoman Susan Berland. "It is truly an honor to have residents such as Lorraine actively involved in the Huntington community.”

Half Hollow Hills Library Board Member Honored

40-year Half Hollow Hills Library Board Member and recent retiree Martha Graham was awarded with a Town Proclamation earlier this month for her dedication to the library community. 

“Martha made unparalleled contributions to the Half Hollow Hills Community Library during her forty years on the board through her tireless advocacy for issues important to the library community," said Councilwoman Susan Berland. "She will be greatly missed and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

'Pawfect Pet Den' Opens in Greenlawn

'Pawfect Pet Den,' a pet care company that provides a variety of services such as grooming, pet sitting, transportation, dog walking, trips to the dog park, in-home cage-less boarding and waste removal, held an official ribbon cutting on July 22. The store is located at 48A Broadway in Greenlawn.

Coming Up

The Town Board will meet on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Town Hall to hear public opinion on consolidation of the Highway and Public Works Department. The measure would abolish the General Services Department and make the Highway Superintendent an appointed position. PDF agenda attached. Read more .

The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet in Town Hall at 8:30 a.m. PDF agenda attached.

The Huntington Historical Society is proud to announce its third annual Heritage Crafts Fair this Aug. 18 and 19. The fair will showcase artisans and their unique works of art. There will be jewelers, potters, mosaics, glassworks, photography, needlework, wood turners, fiber and metals. Saturday 10-5 & Sunday 11-4 - $5.00, kids free.
