Holiday Events in Northport

Holiday Tree lighting, Leg Lamp lighting, caroling, and reindeer this weekend.

Two quintessential Northport holiday events are coming up this weekend so get your festive sweaters, hot cocoa, and warm mittens ready for some fun.

On Friday at 7 p.m., see Santa arrive by fire truck at Northport Village Park for the annual holiday lighting ceremony. Be sure to come early to see live reindeer from 4 to 7 p.m. courtesy of Window Shop Jewelers, and stay late for caroling by the Northport Chorale and free hot cocoa provided by Shipwreck Diner, Copenhagen Bakery, and Northport Feed & Grain.

On Saturday at 7 p.m., hundreds are expected to gather for the 7th annual leg lamp lighting ceremony at Northport Hardware. In what has become Northport's own unique way of ushering in the official start of the holiday season, the fish-netted gam will be lit in the store's front window in homage to the 1983 movie, "A Christmas Story."

Mayor George Doll, the Northport High School Tigerettes, and the infamous pink bunny suit will all make appearances on Saturday in what is sure to be a great time!

Huntington will also hold its annual Holiday Parade and Street Festival Saturday at 7 p.m. featuring Long Island’s biggest electric light holiday parade and float contest. Read details here.
