Feb. 23: Current Events Discussion; Little League Registration

Five things to know or do in the community.

Hello and welcome to the Thursday edition of "The Daily Five," a rundown of things to know or do in the community.

1. Weather: Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 57. Breezy, with a west wind between 10 and 20 mph.

2. Special Needs K.I.D.S. Plus Basketball: K.I.D.S. Plus offers therapeutic recreation and sports programs to children and young adults with developmental disabilities. This basketball program is intended for middle School and high school level children and young adults of all abilities and all communities to practice skills and drills and finish with a scrimmage each week. Laurel Avenue School Gym. 5 p.m., $25 for the whole program.

3. Current Events Discussion: Michael Libresco-D’Innocenzo, professor of history at Hofstra University, will explore significant national and international developments at the Northport Library. All attending the program are welcome to share their views. No registration required. 7:30 p.m.

4. The Sunshine Boys: This laugh-out-loud comedy follows two faded
vaudeville legends, Lewis and Clark, as they reunite to perform their old act one last time. The only problem is they can't stand each other! 8 p.m. at Engeman Theater. $50.

5. Northport Little League: Register for Baseball & Softball Spring 2012, Boys and Girls, ages 5 - 15, online at www.northportll.org through Feb. 25. You must reside within the following boundaries to register: All areas North of Route 25A from Woodbine Avenue East To The Sunken Meadow Parkway.
