Dec. 21: Chanukah Parade; Strolling Santa

Five things to know or do in the community.

Hello and welcome to the Wednesday edition of "The Daily Five," a rundown of things to know or do in the community.

1. Weather: Rain, mainly after 10 a.m. High near 54. South wind between 6 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

2. Chanukah Parade: The Chanukah parade traveling thru Commack/East Northport/Kings Park will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Chai and Mazel (Northgate Shopping Center in Commack), and drive a pre-determined route for 30-45 minutes. The procession will end at the Chabad of Mid-Suffolk. Join in at the parking lot for latkes, doughnuts, drinks, and entertainment.

3. A Wonderful Life: See the John W. Engeman Theater's spirited stage production of the 1946 holiday film "It's a Wonderful Life" at 8 p.m. Our reviewer said, "The best part about seeing this classic tale in the theater, is that once it hooks you into the story, it entertains in a way only theater can do properly, with song and dance." $60.

4. Strolling Santa: Santa will be making his list and checking it twice as he strolls around Main Street from noon to dusk. Bring your camera!
