Patch recently spotted an advertisement on Craigslist for rentals of a surreal dolphin-shaped submersible in Northport Harbor.
The 16-foot craft, called a Seabreacher J, seats two and is capable of diving up to 6 feet under water with 20 mph submersed speeds and 40 mph surface speeds. The craft is also capable of jumping 12 feet out of the water and rolling 360 degrees, according to Seabreacher manufacturing company Innerspace.
Whoever placed the ad is looking for $500 for 3 hours and $1000 for 8 hours; a good way of making a return on the $48,000 craft. With that hefty price comes a free 15-minute lesson.
The Seabreacher J is Coast Guard legal, according to Innerspace.
