Acura Chooses Northport For Photo Shoot

The Northport village board of trustees recently granted permission to Acura car company to conduct a photo shoot of its top model cars on Saturday, June 1 in municipal parking lot four on Main Street.

Acura will pay $1,000 to rent the parking lot for the day and will have full rights during that time. Police Chief Ric Bruckenthal said that no parking overnight signs will be posted the day before the shoot, which is expected to take place between 8:30 a.m. and 11 p.m. Acura will also pay for a Northport Police officer for 12 hours, an on-call highway worker, and all insurance requirements.

Acura location manager Cassis Staudt said Northport will represent New York in a series of photo shoots in ten cities across America. She chose the location based upon recommendation by the Suffolk County Film Commission.

"The parking lot in the middle of Main Street is beautiful," said Staudt. "Not a lot of towns have that."

Northport Chamber of Commerce President Deb Triola said she didn't see any problems with the shoot. Village Trustee Henry Tobin asked if there would be reference to Northport in the advertisement. Staudt said she would ask, but does not make the ultimate decision.
