Toy, Game Shop to Roll Dice on East Northport Friday

M.J. Beanz Toys to open its doors Friday in the Elwood Center on Jericho Turnpike.

East Northport and Commack locals will have a new spot to pick up toys and board games on Friday when M.J. Beanz Toys opens in the Elwood Center on Jericho Turnpike.

The shop is the second storefront for owner Steve Goldfarb, who also runs an M.J. Beanz in Plainview. That shop has been open for 10 years.

Goldfarb said he's not planning anything grand for the opening, and instead will hold a grand opening event in the spring.

"When you open a new store, you don't know where the mistakes are going to be," he said. "I'd rather open quietly and then in the spring do some kind of fundraiser."

While most of the walls in the shop are covered with board games, the shop also carries a host of other puzzles, toys and collectibles, including some games used by occupational and physical therapists to help their patients.

Goldfarb said the shop will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m weekdays, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Sundays.
