Signature Hosts Bash for Official Opening

The real estate company held a tented party to introduce itself to the neighborhood.

It was a business, family and community affair.

The party Wednesday for the official opening of Signature Premeir Properties Northport office was attended by agents from not only the company's Northport office, but also from its two Huntington offices and its Cold Spring Harbor office, as well.

Other business owners such as Chamber of Commerce President Flemming Hansen of Copenhagen Bakery; Jacqui Maggio of Sophi Blu;  Marty Lang of Laurel and Lily; Paul and Marie Gallowitsch of Skippers Pub and Carlene Afetian or Veronica Rayne came to welcome Premeir as well.

Also on hand to officially welcome Signature were Northport Village Mayor George Doll and trustees Tom Kehoe, also chair of the Northport Village Business Development Committee, and Jerry Maline.

Kehoe noted that the dozens of agents who will report to the office weekly will have a positive residual affect on other local businesses.

"When you have people coming in to the village every day, whether that be the agents or their clients, they're going to eat in local restaurants; they're going to shop in local stores. So this is really a win-win situation for Northport Village," he said.

Signature co-owner BarbaraWanamaker has more than 30 years in the real estate business, having worked for National Homefinders and Coldwell Banker.  In 2007, she partnered with homebuilder Peter Morris to open their first office.

Wanamaker said she and Morris felt Northport was a natural choice for a fourth office. "We came to Northport because it is part of Huntington township and wanted to take the next step to service this area. Northport is a wonderful addition to our marketplace," she said.

Morris agreed. "We already have a big market share in Northport and know a lot of agents in  and think a lot of people will be attracted to us," he said. "We're  trying to focus on the whole township as far out as Northport and Fort Salonga. So we felt we needed to expand east. People are already responding well. We have a lot of agents who have livee in Northport their whole lives and are very well known in the community. I think were going to be a big presence."

One of those Northport natives is Jacqui Lewisy who recently scored one of the biggest properties in the 11768 area code: the 11-bedroom, 6.5-bath, 6.722-square-foot-home built in 1929 on on a 21.9-acre island in Asharoken with a listing price of $12 million.

Agents from other companies attended as well. According to Tony Donnino of Prudential Douglas Elliman, " We all work together on deals so it's whether as selling agent or buying agent so it's nice to get to know them in a more casual atmosphere," he said.
