'Nick's Place' Up And Running

Nick Nappy's new enterprise, which occupies the space formerly home to Smoking Sloe's, was already doing a brisk business selling ribs and chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday.

is  up and running at least a week ahead of schedule.

Nick Nappy’s new enterprise, which occupies the spot formerly home to Smoking Sloe’s right next to is already doing a brisk business selling ribs and chicken wings, said Nappy, adding that many customers purchased these taste-tempting essentials for Super Bowl Parties.

Karen Sullivan, who came in to pick up an order of ribs, is already a repeat customer. The Centerport resident, who said that she first visited Nick’s Place on Friday, a day after Nappy opened, said that the ribs got such rave reviews from her family that she had to come back for more.

A gallery of prints by artist Jo-Ann Corretti, known for her resplendently colored pictures of Northport’s most beloved landmarks, adorns the walls,  and many customers peruse Corretti’s work while waiting for an order.

“I keep on reinventing myself,” said Nappy, who maintains a little hall of fame in the corner of his store devoted to his career as a dancer and an actor. Nappy, who has appeared on "Gossip Girls" and "Blue Bloods," will appear with Angela Lansbury and Jim Carrey in 20th Century Fox’s film adaptation of the children’s book, "Mr. Popper’s Penguins,"  scheduled to be released in August.

"I am also writing a movie," Nappy said, adding that multi-tasking keeps him happy and busy.

The hours of Nick's Place, newly posted in the window, along with the menu, are 11 am to 8 pm.
