Copenhagen Bakery Reopens

Northport bakery back serving customers after four days of renovations.

Fresh brewed coffee was ready to serve – as always – Friday morning, but the experience was entirely different.

reopened , and while the Northport eatery is still a work in progress, the change was impossible to miss. 

The sign outside greeting customers says: "Welcome back! Open. Thank you for your patience." But other than a string of balloons along the railing, you'd never guess the dramatic changes awaiting inside.

Product cases have been pushed back and there's seating on both sides of the counter. Owner Stace Hansen said more work needs to be done; An extra coat of paint, window treatments and more seating will be added.

But she was extremely excited to be open for business once again. Along with husband, Flemming, the couple bought the bakery in 1998. They acquired the building in 2003, and once the tenant next door moved out last summer, the Hansens set their sights on expanding the bakery to 1,000 square feet and moving beyond coffee and danish.
