Bites Nearby: Campari Ristorante

Each week, Northport Patch picks a local restaurant you should be sure to check out.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Northport Patch will pick a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.

This week's choice: Campari's is both a full-service, sit-down restaurant on one side and a walk-up, counter-service, eat-in or take-out pizza shop on the other. It is located on Main Street in Northport Village almost directly across from Village Hall. It is a family-owned restaurant with a very friendly staff that serves both traditional and progressive Italian-style entrees, appetizers and salads. They will also cook to order. My family often orders the chicken parmesan pizza to go so obviously we give that high marks. The breaded chicken seems home made. The cheese is real. The sauce is good. It has been our experience that if there is a problem, the staff or owners if they are on the premises will be quick to apologize and fix it. Last week, the owner herself brought us a new pie when the first one was botched while it was being delivered. The lunch and menus offer a wide range of pastas and shellfish as well as wine by the bottle and the glass. Campari also offers Moretti and Peroni beer. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Prices: $10 to $25 for entrees.
