Artie Berke Opens Mexican Restaurant

Cilantro debuted Tuesday in place of Kasper's

Northport restauranteur Artie Berke opened Cilantro Mexican Restaurant on Woodbine Avenue Tuesday, serving made-to-order burritos, tacos, fajitas, salads, and more.

The build a meal style is similar to Chipotle in that customers choose the presentation (fajita, burrito, salad), meat (chicken, beef, pork), salsa, and  drink. Executive Chef Franco La Rocca, also executive chef at Nina's, offers up delicious options such as diced chicken marinated in adobo spices, slowed cooked shredded beef in spices, diced marinated beef, and slow cooked shredded pork with Mexican spices.

Cilantro replaces Kasper's Gourmet Hot Dogs, which Berke took over from original owner Marc Soojian in June. Berke closed Kasper's in January because of lack of demand during the colder months, but told Newsday's 'Feed Me' blog not to rule out Kasper's resurfacing in a different location down the road.

Cilantro can be reached at 631-651-9377 and is located at 40 Woodbine Avenue. They offer free delivery. A full menu is attached and also available on their Facebook Page.
